Closed by law (restricted trading day)

Good Friday 2027 is a restricted trading day: under the Shop Trading Hours Act 1990, shops like Mitre 10 must stay closed all day. Only exempt shops, such as dairies, service stations, pharmacies and takeaways, can open. A handful of areas have old exemption orders, such as the Queenstown district and Paihia, so a few stores there may differ.

Tip: Opening hours can change. Check with your local Mitre 10 before you go. “Check local” means we couldn’t find an official, verifiable source yet.
